VARIOUS ARTISTS: “Confessions of a Shopaholic, Original Soundtrack”

shopaholic(Hollywood, 2009):
I can’t think of a single reason that I’d even look at this CD cover twice, let alone actually open up the jewel case and slip the disc into my player, but I’m glad that I did. (OK, I’ll confess: I wanted to hear what the Pussycat Dolls did to “Bad Girl.” But alas, it was a new song, not the Donna Summer classic, which I now realize is titled “Bad Girls.”) Anyway, buried deep amidst all of the usual, cliched dance-pop dreck is a lovely track – quirky soul sister Macy Gray dishes up a delicious and decidedly understated rendition of Harry Nilsson’s nugget, “Don’t Forget Me,” which is definitely worth a download.
