A bidding war for Scientific Maps?
As part of the CRUMBS Nite Out at the Linda on Thursday evening, Matthew Loiacono of Collar City Records and Alex Muro of B3nson Recording Company were the special guest panelists for a discussion about local record company collectives. The panel was hosted by entertainment lawyers Paul Czech and Paul Rapp.
The talk got off to rousing start when Rapp bluntly asked, “So do you guys know what you’re doing?”
“Oh, no,” admitted Muro.
“Definitely not,” said Loiacono.
“And that’s the difference, really,” Rapp pointed out. “Because the major labels obviously don’t know what they’re doing either, but they’re afraid to admit it.”
“Yes, and we’re having fun,” said Muro.
“And we only put out music that we’re really excited about,” Loiacono added.
The highlight of the hour-long panel discussion may have happened near the mid-way point when Loiacono revealed, “Alex and I are going to have a fight over who gets to put out the next Scientific Maps album. I think we’re going to have a Jell-O wrestling match.”
No details yet on the venue or the ticket prices for that must-see event.
