Comin’ soon…

New for Nippertown, here are some of the upcoming concerts that have been announced in the past week:

The Egg in Albany keeps on cramming the concert calendar with good stuff. Best on this week’s list? The Loud and Rich show featuring Loudon Wainwright III and Richard Thompson on Sunday, Oct. 18. They’ll play solo sets, as well as playing together. Also on The Egg’s datebook are Lyle Lovett and His Large Band (Tuesday, November 3), the Zucchini Brothers Holiday Show (Saturday, December 19) and the second annual Valentine’s Day show by Jane Monheit (Sunday, February 14). Tix go on sale to the general public on Friday, July 17. Of course, if you’re a member you can buy your tix right now.

The non-profit organization of local jazz fans and torchbearers A Place for Jazz has announced its autumn slate of concerts at the First Unitarian Society of Schenectady’s Whisperdome. The Friday night series includes performances by the Eric Alexander Quintet featuring Steve Davis (September 11), the Otmaro Ruiz Quartet (September 25), the Tierney Sutton Band (October 9), the Gene Ludwig Trio (October 23) and the Steve Lambert Sextet (November 6).

Over in Great Barrington, Mass., Club Helsinki has added a handful of new shows including Richard Shindell (Friday, August 14) and the double-bill of Milton with Mike and Ruthy (Friday, July 31).

Mushroomhead (Friday, August 21) cranks it up at Northern Lights in Clifton Park with (hed)pe opening the show. And speaking of openers, the Alternative Routes – who kicked off Troy’s River Street Festival just a couple of week’s ago – will open for Kevin Costner and Modern West (yes, that Kevin Costner) on Tuesday, July 21 at NL.
