Be Here Now: SAW Fest @ Salem, 7/25
If you’ve never been to SAW Fest before, you probably wouldn’t expect that the relatively sleepy little town of Salem could host such a fine, funky, edgy musical festival.
The “SAW” in SAW Fest stands for the Salem Art Works, which is hosting its annual outdoot music festival on Saturday, July 25. The line-up features many of Nippertown’s best and most adventurous bands, including Sgt. Dunbar and the Hobo Banned, Railbird, the Mathematicians and Beware! The Other Head of Science.
Suggested donation for the evening festival is just $15, which also includes overnight camping in the sculpture park.
Get there early on Saturday and catch the opening reception for two new exhibitions. “Remix” features the multimedia, installations, sculpture and paintings of the Glens Falls collective UpstART, while “January Girls” features the installations and paintings of Alexis Grabowski and Emily Gray, co-associate directors of Salem Art Works.
The gallery reception is from 4:30-6pm, and admission is free.
