LIVE: The Pine Leaf Boys @ the Music Haven, 7/19

The Pine Leaf Boys follow in the footsteps of legendary Cajun music kingpins Beausoleil, but they add more bite to the traditional sound, layering in rock and roll energy, a bit of funk and a lot of youthful exuberance.

The Grammy-nominated quintet rolled into Schenectady’s Central Park for a free concert at the Music Haven on Sunday, July 19, wrapping up their national tour before returning to their southwest Louisiana hometown of Lafayette.

Under a setting sun, the Pine Leaf Boys played and sang their Acadian-rooted two-steps and waltzes, led by accordionist Wilson Savoy and fiddler Courtney Granger. Audience members each seemed to wear a smile, and some of them danced merrily around the outdoor amphitheater.

Next up on the Music Haven‘s free concert schedule is Salsa Celtica at 7pm on Sunday, July 26.
