Real Good for Free: LarkFEST!!!!!!!!

Holy shit!

There have certainly been any number of great LarkFEST performances over the past 27 years, but we’re thinking that the musical line-up for LarkFEST 2009 is shaping up as the one of the all-time best.

So we say THANKS to the Lark Street Business Improvement District, who is co-sponsoring the street fest with the City of Albany.

On Lark Street in Albany at Washington and Madison avenues, the two main stages (presented by Willobee and the fine folks at WEQX-FM) will feature national headlining acts Moby, Bell X1, Matt & Kim and Company of Thieves, as well as Vermont’s Burnham Bros. Band, in addition to Capital Region faves Lunic, Ten Year Vamp and a reunion of Queer for AstroBoy.

For the second consecutive year, the Albany Barn is sponsoring the Townsend Park Stage on Washington Avenue between Henry Johnson Blvd. and Central Avenue. Performing in Townsend Park will be Barrons in the Attic, Matthew Loiacono, We Are Jeneric, Scientific Maps, Beware! The Other Head of Science and Sgt. Dunbar & the Hobo Banned.

Meanwhile on the Hometown Stage, singer-songwriter MotherJudge will be hosting an eclectic mix of music, poetry and visual art featuring the Albany Poets, Rick Whispers, the fashions of Discard Avant Garb, Marcus Ruggerio and the Ameros.

The 28th annual LarkFEST will be held between 10am-5:30pm on Saturday September 19.

See you there.
