Artists in need
During the past couple of First Friday arts walks in Albany, we’ve ended up down at the Contompasis Gallery at 40 North Broadway. It’s off the beaten path, to say the least, but there’s a wonderful energy there. Artwork covers nearly every inch of wall space, spilling out into the hallway with canvases sometimes stacked up three or four deep.
So it was with a heavy heart that we learned of the fire there yesterday.
But it hasn’t taken long for fellow artists and musicians to come to their aid. Tess’ Lark Tavern in Albany will be hosting a two-day marathon benefit bash on Friday and Saturday, September 4-5 in conjunction with next month’s First Friday. Lots of artwork on exhibit, lots of music on the stage, and lots of help for those in need.
Contact Tess’ Lark Tavern to make donations of artwork, time, talent or funds.

UPDATE: The benefit concert/art exhibit will be a one-day only affair on Friday, September 4.
