The Last Gasp @ Club Helsinki

This is it.

Club Helsinki in Great Barrington, Mass. – one of the best little clubs in the northeast, if not the whole country – is shuttering its doors at the end of business on Monday (August 31).

Over the span of nearly a decade, the intimate nightspot hosted an eclectic parade of world-class musicians from the Tom Tom Club to Ralph Stanley, from Steve Earle to the Dirty Dozen Brass Band, from Toots Hibbert to the Tin Hat Trio.

On their final weekend in business, Club Helsinki is playing host to the Holy Ghost Tent Revival on Friday and the Blue Ribbon Boys (with guest pianist Evan Palazzo) on Saturday evening.

On Sunday, August 30, it’s the Last Waltz farewell with a batch of excellent local musicians who have become part of the Helsinki family over the years, including – but certainly not limited to – Rob Sanzone, Jordan Loder, Kiki Dufault, Tim Ward, Seth Rogovoy, Sauerkraut Seth Travins and Bob Benson.

And on Monday, August 31st, the doors will be open for one last day and one final, revved-up, blow-out performance by Big Sandy & the Fly-Rite Boys. Stop in, say good-bye and show your support by bidding an affectionate farewell with music, food, hugs and celebration.
