Capital Region Entertainment Hall of Fame

On Saturday, September 19, the Grand Opening Gala at Proctors in Schenectady not only celebrates the 2009-2010 season of shows and events at Proctors, but it also serves as the induction ceremony for the class of 2009 into the Capital Region Entertainment Hall of Fame.

What? You didn’t know there was a Capital Region Entertainment Hall of Fame? Well, that’s understandable because this is only the second annual induction. And we couldn’t even find a website for it, either.

Well then, who’s being inducted this year? Well, the Capital Region Entertainment Hall of Fame inductees for 2009 are:

Bruce Jordan & Marilyn Abrams (producers of “Shear Madness,” a stage comedy with more than a thirty-year run)

Gregory Maguire (award-winning author of the book “Wicked,” which launched the blockbuster stage musical of the same name)

Maureen O’Sullivan (actress and star of stage and screen)

Vicarious Visions (brothers Guha and Karthik Bala developers of world-renowned video games including “Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock”)

Hosted by the Theatre Guild at Proctors, the Grand Opening Gala celebrates the new inductees and the new season of shows with an evening of entertainment, dining and dancing. Tickets are $175. To make a reservation, please contact Judy Decker at 518.382.384 x134 or [email protected]

Inductees at last year’s grand opening ceremonies included Francis Frederick Proctor, Ernst F.W. Alexanderson, Kirk Douglas, Monty Wooley, Maureen Stapleton, television station WRGB and radio station WGY. The first inductee to the Hall was film director-screenwriter John Sayles in 2006.
