Be Here Now: Beer Helmet Night @ Tess’ Lark Tavern, 9/5/09

Yes, it’s beer helmet night at Tess’ Lark Tavern in Albany on Saturday, September 5. It’s the Albany stop on the “Hello Big Mama” tour, in support of the brand spankin new album from Educated Consumers. And, oh yeah, it’s also the release party for Dood Computer’s new album, “Penny Dreadfuls.”

The Dood and Educated Consumers will be joined by an all-star cast of hip-hop characters including Dezmatic, Neighborhood Creeps, Alaska & Kojo, Prolyphic and Cubbiebear. Cardboard City’s Benn Grim hosts the bash with DJ Turnstyle spinning yer fave Neil Diamond tunes. (Do I look like I’m kidding?)

Has “Penny Dreadfuls” evolved beyond cassette status yet? We’ll have to wait and see.

But at least it’s beer helmet night, and as the flier proudly proclaims, “Bring your own or buy one of ours, and you can buy shitty cans of beer for one dollar.”

Now that’s what I call marketing…
