Phone it in with Son Lux & Joshue Ott
We here at Nippertown.com just love it when visual art and music come together in one cool, mindboggling package. And apparently, so do the fine folks at MASS MoCA.
Last weekend, the massive museum hosted a thoroughly winning performance by the Brooklyn band Balthrop, Alabama, whose musical performance was accompanied by the pen and ink drawings of Michael Arthur which were projected on a behind-the-stage screen as Arthur was making his marks.
This weekend, MASS MoCA has something similar – but different, of course – planned.
And he’ll be accompanied by Joshue Ott, a time-based multi-media artist, who will provide visuals to accompany the music. Ott will be utilizing his superDraw program to create evolving organic animations.
And just to make things a little more interactive, audience members will also be able to make their own contributions to the visual hootenanny with your iPhone or iPod touch.
You might want to do a little free app downloading in advance, though.
So if ya got ’em, bring ’em.
Just be sure to turn the ringer off…
