Odds & Ends @ the End of the Week
We are seriously bummed out that comedian Bobcat Goldthwait has cancelled his stand-up performance that was scheduled for Friday, October 9 at Proctors in Schenectady. (Refunds are available at the place of purchase.) Now, we’ll just have to wait patiently to see his new movie, “World’s Greatest Dad” starring Robin Williams.
The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame announced the list of 12 nominees who are in contention for five slots as 2010 inductees: Kiss, LL Cool J, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Genesis, Jimmy Cliff, the Hollies, Laura Nyro, Donna Summer, Darlene Love, ABBA, the Chantels and, of course, the Stooges. Winners announced in December and inducted in March. We’d vote for ABBA, the Stooges, Kiss, Donna Summer and Laura Nyro, but then again, we don’t get to vote. Who gets your vote?
“It Might Get Loud” – the documentary feature about guitarslingers Jimmy Page, the Edge and Jack White – opens at the Spectrum 8 Theatres in Albany today.
And if you happen to be headed to the Spectrum to see it this weekend, you might want to arrive early enough to check out the art exhibit in the theater lobby featuring photography by Rick Bedrosian (of Hair of the Dog). The exhibition remains on view through Tuesday, October 6.
R&R Hall of Fame? My votes would go to: Kiss, Genesis, Jimmy Cliff, the Chantels, the Stooges.
