September 26, 1969: Velvet Underground in Schenectady!
Oh, indeed!
In his book, “White Light/White Heat: The Velvet Underground Day by Day” (recently published by Jawbone Press), noted rock writer and historian Richie Unterberger writes the following entry for Friday, September 26, 1969:
Aerodrome, Schenectady, NY
One of the Velvet Underground’s most obscure concerts takes place tonight at this club in upstate New York, as advertised in the Troy Record. Although the modest-sized town of Schenectady – about 15 miles from the state capital, Albany – is hardly a musical hotspot, the Aerodrome plays host to shows by many big-name acts of the period, including the Doors, Janis Joplin, and Led Zeppelin.
