That’s a Terrible Record!
Don’t be surprised if you see a bunch of Nippertown musicians trying to slip their demo discs to bassist/multi-instrumentalist Chris Taylor at tonight’s Grizzly Bear concert at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs.
In collaboration with Ethan Silverman (of Lust Boys), Taylor has just launched a new Brooklyn-based indie record label, Terrible Records.
The debut release from the label is a 7-inch vinyl single featuring the song “Ghosts,” which also just happens to be the first release from Taylor’s new solo project, which he has dubbed Cant. The Cant single is limited to 1000 copies and will be available at the label’s website and at select retailers.
The label will continue releasing a 7-inch series with songs produced by Taylor and recorded at his church-studio in Brooklyn where Taylor produced much of the latest Grizzly Bear album, “Veckatimist.”
The label will subsequently release a Taylor-produced five-song, 10″ vinyl EP “All of the Fire,” by NYC rockers Acrylics at the end of October.
