ArtBeat: Davey Jones Gallery
Ah yes, there’s nothing goes together better than fish and fine art.
At least that’s the thinking of the fine folks at Davey Jones Locker, a longtime Nippertown hotspot for aquarium aficionados.
Visit the Delaware Avenue shop, and you’ll be hypnotized by the vast array of colorful tropical fish. Continue past the aquariums, however, and you’ll find that the back room of the store has been transformed into a home for art – Davey Jones Gallery.
That’s right – art and aquariums.
Davey Jones Gallery director Sara Pruiksma has curated a new exhibition, “A Collection of Classics,” featuring photography and paintings by Adrienne Money and David Olander. And as part of Albany’s monthly First Friday arts walk, the gallery is hosting an opening reception from 5-9pm on Friday, October 2. Admission is free, and the exhibit will remain on view through Friday, October 30.
