MUSIC: “A Tribute to Nick Brignola” @ the Van Dyck, Schenectady: It’s the cream of the Nippertown jazz scene all together in one band for one night (including some bandmates of the late great baritone blaster Brignola) – bassist Rich Syracuse, drummer David Calarco, guitarist Chuck D’Alioa, saxman Brian Patneaude and piano queen Lee Shaw. 7pm. $10.
MUSIC: Rhonda Vincent & the Rage @ the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall, Troy: She is a bona fide bluegrass queen with 14 International Bluegrass Music Association awards to her credit – including Entertainer of the Year (in 2001) and seven – count ’em, 7 – Female Vocalist of the Year trophies. 8pm. $34, $29, $23, $18.
ARTS EVENT: The Troy Night Out arts walk @ various locations, Troy: There’s a haunted house, great jazz and Very Scary Organ Music, as well as some fine art by Christina Stott (at Artcentric Gift Gallery), Robert Moylan (Clement Art Gallery) and four Latin artists (Martinez Gallery). It’s fun for the whole family. 5-9pm. Free.
STAGE/FILM: The Bing Bamboo Room Burlesque and Variety Show with “Rocky Horror Picture Show” @ Savannah’s, Albany: Emcee Guy Smiley and his troupe of gorgeous gals, magicians and wacky performers shift their usual last-Monday-of-the-month extravaganza to pre-Halloween Friday. Please say hi to Scooter Pie for us; she’s our fave. A screening of “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” follows the show. 8pm. $10
FILM/MUSIC: Ethel plays live soundtrack to “La Nave De Los Monstruos” @ MASS MoCA, North Adams, Mass.: A vintage Mexican science fiction film was a live score by one of the world’s most adventurous post-modern string quartet? How can you go wrong? 8pm. $18.
