Pretty scary, eh kids? Halloween Roundup

Friday:

The 65th annual Halloween Parade in Pittsfield begins at 7pm. (FREE)

Casper Land in Troy has a night of scary movies and creepy soundscapes from from Bennington College based psych-folk, improv band The Registrar starting at 7pm (FREE)

The BingBamboo Room is presenting a Halloween burlesque show at 9pm at Savannah’s (or Dublin Underground, or whatever the hell it’s called.)

The Night of 1000 Pumpkins in Catskill includes free pumpkins and candles to the first 300 people at the Catskill Community Center. Carving at 6:00 pm and a non-motorized parade kicks off at 7pm. (FREE)

Friday and Saturday:

A little smaller in scale, perhaps, but no less fun-sounding is The Bakery’s Night of 100 Pumpkins in New Paltz. Drop off your carved pumpkin by Friday (10/30) for the contest judging on Halloween from 6-8pm with free cocoa, cider and pumpkin bread. (FREE)

Saturday:

Dance some more: Jason’s Upstairs Bar in Hudson is holding Halloween Freakfest 2009 on Saturday 9pm – 2am with DJ Mr Chips and DJ Tate (AKA DJ T-Bone) with, yep, costume prizes including “goriest costume.”

Aaaaaand, Grand Street Community Arts is hosting two Halloween parties:

For the Kids 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM: Halloween Is FUNDAMENTAL: Featuring free candy and books to promote literacy, music and spooky games, local teen dancers, and a puppet show at 6:30 PM.
For the Adults 7:30 PM: Freak! Masquerade $7-10 at the Door: Featuring DJ Luke Jonathan & DJ Ryan Kick, Lazer and Blazer, Live Hip Hop: Major Moves, One Click Bang & other special guests, refreshments and dancing, and “Best Halloween Costume” Prizes.
