Yes, we all love the great classics of black velvet painting, don’t we?

Well, on Saturday (November 7) you can get in on the ground floor of a whole new generation of black velvet artists, when the Lake George Arts Project throws its annual fundraiser, the Black Velvet Art Party, at the Roaring Brook Ranch in Lake George. Proceeds from the event help fund the Lake George Arts Project and its gallery exhibition series.

Expect to see more than 40 out-of-the-ordinary, off-the-wall pieces of original art that incorporates black velvet art. And, of course, the party always features some over-the-top black velvet costumes, as well.

The party features a silent auction of original black velvet art, a limbo contest, psychic readings, art and fashion awards, and live music for your dancing pleasure by Pop Rock Circus.

The theme for this year’s bash is “Fly,” and among the many raffle prizes are an airplane flight over Lake George, a helicopter ride and a hot air balloon ride. Tickets are available at the door for $25.00, which includes a finger food buffet.
