Veteran’s Day means a lot of different things to a lot of different people and organizations all across the country.

The Spa Little Theater in Saratoga Springs hosted a special Veteran’s Day concert, “Big Band Treasures Of World War II” starring the Joey Thomas Big Band with featured vocalist Bob Father and special guest the lovely songbird Mia Scirocco. What this show meant was that it was a party time celebration for those old enough to remember the “Big One” … before Korea, Vietnam, Lebanon, Afghanistan, Iraq.

The ’40s vintage swing music made famous by Benny Goodman, Tommy Dorsey, Glenn Miller, Artie Shaw and so many others from the WWII era was delivered superbly by the all-ages big band lead by saxophonist Joey Thomas during the Wednesday matinee performance.

There was humorous between-songs banter, marvelous singing from the two featured vocalists and plenty of expert, high-energy playing by the musicians of the Joey Thomas Big Band.

What better way to celebrate Veteran’s Day?
