Be Here Now: B3nson Family Funsgiving Celebration, Valentine’s Music Hall, 11/19/09
Forget Festivus.
It’s time for everyone’s favorite fake holiday, Funsgiving. And, of course, no one knows how to throw down a Funsgiving party like the fine folks at the B3nson Recording Company and Collective.
The second annual B3nson Family Funsgiving celebration takes over Valentine’s Music Hall in Albany on Thursday (November 19) with a seven-act extravaganza and plenty of the required fun, too.
Solo acoustic acts Stacey Ullman and Pinguinos will kick things off followed by the rauckus and enthralling Barons In the Attic.
And the two newest recruits to the ever-expanding B3nson roster will both be making their Nippertown debut. Secret Release promises a dynamic, fast-moving and emotionally charged musical experience. And Man Scouts are described as “a camp-centric trip of a garage band complete with skits and earn-able merit badges.”
Wrapping up the Funsgiving festivities on Thursday, two of B3nson’s most promising family bands will step into the spotlight. Scientific Maps will perform with a stripped-down line-up featuring Aaron Smith and Donna Baird, as they tackle semi-minimalist rendition of Maps favorites old and new. Meanwhile, the expanded We are Jeneric will keep the B3nson ball rolling along, as they showcase fab fauna faves from their recently released new CD, “Animals Are People Too.”
The music is slated to get underway at 7:30pm on Thursday, and admission is $7; or $5 with the donation of a non-perishable food item or two. The Regional Food Bank will also receive a large portion of the proceeds from the evening’s festivities.
