12/15/09: Today’s Tips: Tuesday

MUSIC: Deja @ Revolution Hall, Troy: Deja returns for another round of the weekly Free Tuesdays concert series. Sharing the bill is Higher Organix. Doors open at 8pm. Free.

THEATER: “Wicked” @ Proctors, Schenectady: The musical tale of the witches of Oz returns to kick off its second week. Last week’s reviews weren’t exactly raves. In the Times Union, Michael Eck’s review declared, ” ‘Wicked’ is a big event, no doubt, and any fan of Broadway spectacle will be satisfied, even if Schwartz’s score isn’t as memorable as the special effects.” In The Daily Gazette, Matthew G. Moross was, well, less enthusiastic, declaring, “Unfortunately, what we are offered is an uneven, mechanical musical evening that is overlong and devoid of true theatrical magic.” Ouch. 8pm. $30-$127.75.

MUSIC: “Festival of the Lessons and Carols” @ Christ Church, Ballston Spa: The intimate annual holiday concert by candlelight features John Kirk and Trish Miller with Linda Schrade, Field Horne and Theresa Bruno. 7:30pm. Free.
