Be Here Now: The Jam & Sing Thing @ the Woman’s Club of Albany, 1/15-17/10

When it comes to music, there are a lot of folks around Nippertown who would rather be doers than simply listeners.

And if you’re one of them, you might want to head over to the Jam & Sing Thing this weekend, sponsored by Tri-City Trad. The fest is being held at the Woman’s Club of Albany and the Albany Friends Meeting House, side by side on Madison Avenue in Albany.

There are oodles of participatory musical activities planned all weekend-long for fans of acoustic traditional music. Jam sessions are scheduled in a wide variety of musical styles: Irish, jug band, French Canadian, ukulele, swing, contra dance and more.

Workshops will be held on such topics as improvisation, guitar, fiddle, harmonizing, sea shanties, uilleann pipes and Irish whistle.

Whether you’re an accomplished musician or just a beginner, grab your instrument and join in the fun.
