Maybe it was those balmy, spring-like temperatures over the weekend, but the concert calendar is blossoming over at Northern Lights in Clifton Park. Among the new shows added are George Clinton on Wednesday, February 24 (tix on sale at 10am Saturday); Coheed and Cambria with Earl Greyhound on Thursday, March 25 (tix on sale Friday); Manchester Orchestra on Monday, March 29, with the Features, Biffy Clyro and O’Brother (tix on sale at 10am on Thursday); Dashboard Confessional on Saturday, April 10 (tix on sale at 11am Friday); House of Pain on Sunday, March 21, with La Coka Nostra opening (tix on sale at 10am Saturday) and Reverend Horton Heat with Cracker and Miss Derringer on Sunday, May 23 (tix on sale at 10am on Saturday, January 30).

In addition to the two last-minute Haitian relief benefits by James Taylor on Friday and Saturday (there may still be a few $1000 tix available for Saturday), the Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center in Great Barrington, Mass. announced quite a number of other new shows for its 2010 concert calendar. Among them are the McCoy Tyner Trio (Sunday, February 21), the David Bromberg Quartet with the Angel Band (Saturday, April 10), Shawn Colvin (Friday, April 16), Patti Lupone (Sunday, July 11), Bucky Pizzarelli & Friends featuring Frank Vignola and Gene Bertoncini (Saturday, August 7) and the Lettermen (Saturday, August 20).

Originally from South Africa but now based in Nashville, the alt-rock trio Civil Twilight makes its Nippertown debut at 8pm on Friday, January 29 at Jillian’s in Albany. Sponsored by WEQX-FM, the free concert will also feature Long Islanders As Tall as Lions.

Let’s see… Taylor Hicks rolls into Proctors in Schenectady in the touring company of “Grease” beginning on Tuesday. Carrie Underwood pulls her tour bus into the Times Union Center on Friday, March 8. And now, Daughtry lands at the TUC just two weeks later. This place is turning into American Idol Central. So when’s Sanjaya comin’ to town? Anyway, here are the Daughtry details – Showtime is 7:30pm on Sunday, March 28. Lifehouse and Cavo open the show. Priced at $29.50 and $39.50, tix go on sale at 10am Saturday (January 23).

Barrence Whitfield & the Monkey Hips invade Positively Fourth Street in Troy at 9pm on Friday, February 5. New local combo the Knyghts of Fuzz will make their debut as the opening act.

The folks at WEXT-FM have announced the remainder of the line-up for their Exit Dome Three benefit concert on Saturday, February 13. In addition to the previously announced Alta Mira and the 30th anniversary reunion of Blotto, the Ashley Pond Band, Matt Durfee and John Scarpulla will be performing at the Exit Dome (aka, the WMHT television studio) in North Greenbush.

And just in case you missed the announcement late last week, The Egg in Albany has added two new shows – Rosanne Cash on Saturday, February 27 and the jazz vocal trio JaLaLa on Saturday, June 5.
