New Bands on the Nippertown Scene
As you may have noticed from the Weekend Roundup, there are a couple of new bands hitting the clubs this weekend.
Not to be confused with the LA soul quintet or the Boston rock/R&B cover band of the same name, the Mojo Filters are the Saratoga acoustic trio of Phil Drum, Willie the Moak and Dave Scheffel, who will be playing at 9pm tonight (Friday) at Bailey’s Cafe in Saratoga Springs.
Meanwhile, on Saturday night (January 23), the Mississippi Hot Dogs roll into the Ale House in Troy. The electric blues-roots quartet features Kevin Maul on Ry Cooder-style bottleneck slide guitar and vocals, along with guitarist Chris Kyle and drummer Chris Carey (both from Railbird) and bassist Tony Markellis (who is about to hit the road in Trey Anastasio’s TAB Band).
