MEETING: The Albany Roots Music Society @ Valentine’s Music Hall, Albany. Postponed from last week, it’s an organizational meeting of some local fans getting together to support and promote all types of roots music from blues to bluegrass right here in Nippertown. THEATER: “Edge” @ MCLA Gallery 51, North Adams, Mass. Marcy J. Savastano portrays the troubled poet Sylvia Plath in Paul Alexander’s intimate drama. 7:30pm.

ART: Public reception for “Material Witness” @ Albany International Airport Gallery. Drawings, photographs, study models and site-specific installations by Rensselaer students imagining new spatial and structural possibilities in found, discarded or recycled materials. 5:30-7:30pm. Free.

DANCE/ART Open Rehearsal for Stefanie Weber’s Creatures of Habitat @ Storefront Artist Project, Pittsfield, Mass. Led by multimedia artist, dancer and choreographer Stefanie Weber, Creatures of Habitat is completing a new performance piece, “habitat (de)fragmentation,” while in residence with the Storefront Artist Project in Pittsfield throughout January. 6:30-8pm.
