NOTE: Due to the fact that they just played two jam-packed CD release parties at Tess’ on Sunday, Keith Pray’s Big Soul Ensemble will NOT be performing their usual first Tuesday of the month gig tonight @ Tess’ Lark Tavern, Albany.

ART WALK-THROUGH/OPENING RECEPTION: “Carroll Dunham Prints: A Survey” @ the UAlbany Art Museum, Albany. The new exhibition includes more than 100 prints by one of the most inventive printmakers of his generation. Featuring work that spans more than 20 years, this exhibit marks the first museum study of Dunham’s art. A walk-through of the exhibit with the artist takes place at 4:30pm, followed by a reception from 5-7pm. Free.

BOOKS/READING: Allen Ballard @ UAlbany’s Campus Center Assembly Hall, Albany. Novelist and UAlbany Professor of History and Africana Studies, Ballard kicks off the 2010 season of readings sponsored by the New York State Writers Institute. He will read from his latest novel, last year’s “Carried by Six,” an urban thriller about drugs and violence in Philadelphia. Rumor has it that Ballard will also perform a song or two from his new traditional gospel CD, “Early This Morning.” 7pm. Free.
