Festival Fever: The Clearwater Great Hudson River Revival, 6/19-20/10

We are hereby declaring this to be Festival Fever week here at Nippertown.com, and each day this week we’ll be giving you the details of an upcoming local festival of music, art, dance and/or literature. So stay tuned. (We jumped the gun a bit with the announcement of the complete line-up – with links to each of the musicians and photos by Andrzej Pilarczyk – for the Freihofer’s Jazz Festival at SPAC, which we posted yesterday. The initial line-up for the 2010 Clearwater Great Hudson River Revival is chockful of great performers – from Steve Earle to Railroad Earth, from the subdudes to Shawn Colvin, from Joan Osborne to Buckwheat Zydeco. And, it probably doesn’t come as too big a surprise, but the legendary Pete Seeger will also be singing on both days – Saturday and Sunday, June 19-20 – in Croton Point Park in Croton-On-Hudson.

In addition to all of the great music, the Clearwater fest also features superb storytellers and family-oriented entertainers, as well juried crafts, a Green Living Expo, a working riverfront and environmental education sites.

The annual festival is produced by Hudson River Sloop Clearwater, a not-for-profit organization devoted to raising funds and awareness aimed at protecting the river and the earth. All proceeds go directly to support Clearwater’s environmental research, education and advocacy efforts to help preserve and protect the Hudson River.

Tickets for the fest are available here, and early-bird advance tickets are just $50 per day (or $75 for the weekend). Children 12 and under are admitted free.
