MUSIC: Manchester Orchestra @ Northern Lights, Clifton Park. Maybe you saw them on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” last week. Or spotted them on the cover of the current issue of AP (Alternative Press) magazine. Yeah, there’s plenty of buzz on these guys, so check ’em out in clubland while you can. Tonight’s special guests include the Features, O’Brother and Around the World and Back. 7:30pm. $17.
READING: Poets Speak Loud @ Tess’ Lark Tavern, Albany. It’s the monthly word-throwdown at Tess’. This month’s featured poet is Avery Stempel, but there’s always time for plenty of open-mic reading. Sign-up starts at 7pm; reading begins at 8pm.
BURLESQUE: The Bing Bamboo Room Burlesque @ Savannah’s, Albany. A very special revue is on tap tonight to celebrate “Bella Vendetta’s Birthday Bash and 80’s Party.” And, as always, your congenial emcee Mr. Guy Smiley will introduce such memorable performers as Sandi, Lillian Gash, Lolita Massacre, Samara, Baby Dead Girl, Madisin, Miss Bella Vendetta, Le Feu Du Coeur, David Boyd, Lilly Allure and Mistress Elaine. 8 & 10pm. $8.
TALK/PERFORMANCE: “Is Your House on Fire?” @ the Amsler Campus Center’s Sullivan Lounge, Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts, North Adams, Mass. Bearded woman and founder of Circus Amok, Jennifer Miller will give a slideshow presentation on the history of Circus Amok, focusing on queer bodies, public spaces and the fostering of democracy. She also will perform solo, circus sideshow performance pieces. A Q&A session follows. Refreshments will be served. 7pm. Free.
