Though I’m not sure I’ll be able to get to any part of Tulip Fest this year I must say I’m a little disappointed with the change in the Sunday music. Sunday has always been Mother’s Day jazz and that has been good but hey what Mom doesn’t like the Beatles. Also any word on Friday evening kick-off music? In the past great local bands like the Rambling Jug Stompers have kicked things off playing in the park early Friday evening. I’m trying to remember, was it the Jug Stompers last year and Maria Z the year before?

    Graceful,
Yeah, we’re disappointed, too, that the Main Stage on Mother’s Day has been turned over to “tribute acts,” instead of some of the great jazz that they’ve presented in the past. As far as the Friday evening music goes, I think that hasn’t been part of the fest for a couple of years now. Yeah, the Jug Stompers did play on the Friday with Ten27 one year, but I think that was maybe 2007.

Thanks for the quick response Greg! I can’t believe it’s been a couple of years, I could’ve sworn I was there on a Friday evening with my son for good music and he’s just two today. Maybe they’re not done announcing? Oh well Tulip Fest is just the beginning of all sorts of good outdoor music to bring my lil guy to. Thanks for keeping us posted on all these good happenings in the region!

Yeah, it was 2007 RJS played.

I think the Friday night performances were sponsored by a local media outlet (maybe WRBG-TV?), but I’m guessing that money has dried up these days.
