Festival Fever: Beacon Riverfest, 6/26

Local 845 – the local concert production group helmed by singer-songwriter Stephen Clair – has been regularly presenting concerts and club shows at such Beacon venues as the Howland Cultural Center and the Piggy Bank for more than a year now.

But now Local 845 is taking a big step forward with the announcement of Beacon Riverfest, the first-ever live music festival in Beacon’s renovated Riverfront Park.

The free fest will take place on Saturday, June 26, beginning at 2pm and ending at dusk. It’s a rain-or-shine bash.

There’s a little something for everyone at the fest. Here’s the line-up:

The Fleshtones: Led by the tireless vocalist-keyboardist Peter Zaremba, the veteran kings of garage rock recently threw down an amazing, beer-soaked, dancing-on-the-bar performance to close Positively Fourth Street in Troy.

Tracy Bonham: The Grammy-nominated pop-rock singer-songwriter-violinist is about to release her new album, “Masts of Manhatta,” in July.

Yarn: The sparkling, Brooklyn-based alt-country band led by Schenectady native Blake Christiana is about to release their new album, “Come On In,” next month.

Local 845 is also hosting a fund-raising concert for the festival at 7:30pm on Friday, April 30. The show will be held at the Howland Cultural Center and will feature performances by Jen Clapp, Todd Giudice, Al Hemberger, Art Labriola, Susan Wright, Dan Fisherman, Stephen Clair and more – on stage together.
