MUSIC: “The ’90s Decade Concert” featuring Bill Morrissey and Cliff Eberhardt @ Caffe Lena, Saratoga Springs. Two excellent, literate singer-songwriters team to help the venerable coffeehouse celebrate its 50th anniversary. 8pm. $25.

DANCE: Stephen Petronio @ MASS MoCA, North Adams, Mass. The energetic, eclectic modern dance company performs the compelling, evening-length work “I Drink the Air Before Me” featuring music by Nico Muhly. 8pm. $32, $38; students $20; kids $10. (Also at 8pm Saturday).

THEATER: The Bread & Puppet Theater @ Time & Space Ltd., Hudson. B&P’s “The Dirt Cheap Money Cabaret” is politically charged, hilarious, insightful, homespun and honest. With music by the Even Cheaper Accordion & String Ensemble. 8pm. $10; children under 13 $5. (Also at 2 & 8pm Saturday and 2pm Sunday).

FILM: Dancing Across Borders @ Time and Space Ltd, Hudson. Ballet, beauty and culture shock come together in the story of Sokvannara Sar, a talented Cambodian dancer transplanted to New York to audition for the School of the American Ballet. 5:30pm. Member: $5, General: $7, Student: $5. (Also at 5:30 pm Sunday).

FILM: “Le Jour se Leve (Daybreak)” @ UAlbany’s Page Hall, Albany. Hailed as a masterpiece of French realist cinema, director Marcel Carné (“Les Enfants du Paradis”) tells the tale of love, jealousy and retribution, starring Jean Gabin, Jules Berry and Arletty. 7:30pm. Free.

MUSIC: Karen Savoca & Pete Heitzman, Stacey Earle & Mark Stuart @ the Eighth Step at Proctors, Schenectady. Two of the top contemporary acoustic singer-songwriter-instrumentalist duos on the folk circuit today team up for a delightful double-bill at the Eighth Step. 7:30pm. $24.

MUSIC: The New Riders of the Purple Sage @ Jillian’s, Albany. Led by guitarist-vocalist David Nelson and pedal steel great Buddy Cage, NRPS are still doing the psychedelic cowboy thing with bandmates Michael Falzarano, Ronnie Penque and Johnny Markowski along for the ride. The duo of John Scarpulla & Brian Shafer open the show. 9pm. $17.

MUSIC: “Root-A-Rama” featuring the New Santa Monica Flyers, Diego and the Overland Gunslingers @ Valentine’s Music Hall, Albany. It’s the first night of Valentine’s fourth annual celebration of all music rootsy. Of course, that’s a rather open-ended categorization – the New Santa Monica Flyers will be performing Neil Young’s harrowing “Tonight’s the Night” album in its entirety. 8pm.

MUSIC: Railbird, the Hoborchestra, Matthew Carefully @ the College of St. Rose’s Jack’s Place, Albany. A trio of Nippertown’s finest and most daring musical entities. 8pm. $7.

ART: Opening reception for Beeswax & Lampblack: Materials of the Artist & Other Objects of Fascination @ Cooperstown Art Association, Cooperstown. Charles Bremer’s assemblages combine photography, old art supplies, found objects and encaustic wax. 5-7pm. Free.
