Jakob Dylan, What Was the First Album You Ever Bought?

“I honestly wouldn’t know what that first album was. I never really had that moment that some musicians talk about when rock ‘n’ roll kicked open the door for them.

I don’t remember because it seems as though music was just kind of something that I’ve always been interested in. I have older brothers who played music before I did, and music just seemed to fall right into place for me.

We had a music room that literally looked like a mini record store, and everything was alphabetized. That looked like the first record store to me, and I started listening to records in there. It was already filled up with all the good stuff that was out at the time.

But I do remember the first bands that I like a lot, and I remember collecting all of their stuff – bands like X, the Jam and the Clash.

I don’t remember the very first one, though.”

Jakob Dylan will be rolling into The Egg in Albany at 7:30pm on Saturday in support of his new album, “Women and Country.” He’ll be joined by his new all-star band Three Legs, which features Neko Case, Kelly Hogan, Paul Rigby, Jon Rauhouse, Tom Ray and Barry Mirochnick. Tix are $33.
