Future Generations Will Be Able To Look Up What You Had For Lunch Yesterday

The Library of Congress has acquired the entire Twitter archive.

Every public tweet, ever, since Twitter’s inception in March 2006, will be archived digitally at the Library of Congress. That’s a LOT of tweets, by the way: Twitter processes more than 50 million tweets every day, with the total numbering in the billions.

And Google has announced that it offer users the ability to rewind to any point in time and replay what people were tweeting at the time. This functionality will available within the next few days, so you’ll be able to go back and relive the glory days of breaking news and celebrity scandals whenever you like.
