Liz Howe: Tethered @ Tom Myott Gallery, Glens Falls. a new series of ceramic and mixed media sculptures by the noted area ceramicist Liz Howe that draw inspiration from nautical navigational markers, combining elements of portraiture, landscape and everyday objects. “The Things They Left Behind” @ Ferrin Gallery, Pittsfield. Sculptures by Michael Boroniec and Gerit Grimm. The title of the show refers to the ongoing NEA program, The Big Read, currently underway in Pittsfield in which the community explores the book “The Things They Carried” by Tim O’Brien, through programming in the schools, libraries and cultural venues throughout the city. An exhibit combining drawings from the past ten years with recent sculpture by the Havana-based duo, Marco Antonio Castillo Valdes and Dagoberto Rodriguez Sanchez, who collaborate under the name Los Carpinteros (The Carpenters).
