Spottiswoode & His Enemies
Spottiswoode & His Enemies
Sort of.

While there’s still no official opening date yet, it looks like the long-awaited opening of Club Helsinki Hudson won’t be taking place til summer time.

There is good news, though…

In the meantime, the Hudson nightspot is launching a soft opening next month by hosting several “by private invitation” shows, which they’ve dubbed Sound Check Events.

As they posted on their website on Friday: “Although our official opening won’t be ’til later in the season, we’re launching off with Sound Check Events beginning May 1. Audiences will get a sneak peek of our Work-In-Progress. There may be some stop-and-go at performances, and there will be a limited bar and food menu. Here we go. On with the shows!”

The scheduled Sound Check Event performances include:

Saturday, May 1: Spottiswoode & His Enemies ($12)
Saturday, May 8: Matt Haimovitz & Uccello ($25)
Wednesday, May 19: Crooked Still, Sarah Jarosz ($15)
Friday, May 28: FOD (Friends of Daniel Pearl) Fest (general admission free; reserved $25)
Sunday, May 30: The Bindlestiff Family Cirkus ($20; if wearing clown make-up $15)

So, how can you get your “private invitation,” you ask?

It’s simple. Just go to the Club Helsinki Hudson website and sign up on the club’s e-mail list.
