Festival Fever: “United 4 Thacher” @ Proctors, 4/24/10

Proctors in Schenectady is hosting “United 4 Thacher,” a five-hour mini-festival of music, poetry, children’s activities and more. Sponsored by 518 Fever, the fest will take place from 5-10pm on Saturday.

Organizers hope to raise funds and awareness for the struggles that John Boyd Thacher Park and numerous other New York State Parks are facing with the current government funding difficulties.

Admission to “United 4 Thacher” is free, but, of course, all donations are greatly appreciated.

In addition, there will be an art exhibit (sponsored by Schenectady Art Night), poetry readings (sponsored by Albany Poets), performances by Merritt Dance Center Performing Arts and Acro Team and plenty of children’s activities, including face-painting, storytellers, the Puppet People and Ladybug the Clown.

This week marks the 40th anniversary Earth Day celebration, and “United 4 Thacher” is a great way to show your support for the bounty that Mother Nature provides us with on a daily basis.
