Comin’ Soon…
Are the Black Crowes calling it quits? Certainly sounds like it, although they’re calling it an “indefinite hiatus.” But before they pack it in, the Brothers Robinson and the rest of the band are taking one final flight this year. They’re kicking off their “Say Goodnight to the Bad Guys” tour in August, and it will include a stop at the Palace Theatre in Albany on Friday, October 15. The band is promising two-set, three-hour shows, billed as “acoustic hors d’oeuvres followed by an electric reception with the Black Crowes.” Tickets are currently slated to go on sale on Friday, May 14.
Summer Splash 2010 takes over the Times Union Center in Albany on Wednesday, June 2, featuring performances by Ludacris, Nikki Minaj, Lloyd Banks, New Boyz and more. Tix on sale at 10am on Saturday.
7 Walkers – the jam ‘n’ funk all-star band featuring Bill Kreutzmann, Papa Mali and George Porter Jr. – make their Nippertown debut at Revolution Hall in Troy on Thursday, May 27. Priced at $22 in advance, tix go on sale tomorrow (Thursday).
Funkmeister George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic are making good on their postponed Northern Lights show. Orginally slated for February, but postponed due to a snowstorm, Clinton and his band will finally make their way back to Clifton Park on Thursday, July 8. Priced at $20 in advance, tix go on sale at 10am on Saturday. Also new at Northern Lights is Sister Hazel on Thursday, May 13. Advance tix are $13 and go on sale at 10am on Friday.
The City of Albany Special Events Office has also announced that Boyz II Men, the Gin Blossoms and Fran Cosmo will be headlining free Alive at Five concerts this summer in Albany’s Riverfront Park, although no dates have yet been announced.
Sarah Borges & the Broken Singles return to Saratoga Springs on Saturday, May 22, landing at Putnam Den. Rising Tide opens the show. Tix are $8 in advance; $10 at the door.

Remember that upcoming Jackson Browne-David Lindley concert at the Palace Theatre that we told you about last month? Well, they’re finally ready to put the tix on sale. In case you forgot, the date of the concert is Thursday, September 7. Priced at $60, $70 and $80, tix go on sale to the public at 10am on Saturday.
Catherine Russell has dropped off the bill with the Taj Mahal Trio at The Egg on Thursday, May 6. Filling her slot as opening act will be Fredericks Brown, a duo featuring Steph Brown on keyboards and Taj’s daughter Deva Mahal on vocals.
Martin Sexton and the Ryan Montbleau Band have been added to the bill for the previously announced moe. show at Mountain Park in Holyoke at 5pm on Sunday, June 27.
