Dan DiNicola Memorial Service, 4/25/10

A memorial service for Dan DiNicola – a longtime film critic and columnist for The Daily Gazette and Emmy-winning features reporter for WRGB-TV – will be held at 1pm on Sunday at the Gideon Putnam Resort in Saratoga Springs. The celebration of his life is open to the public.

DiNicola died on March 25, losing a long battle against brain cancer. A former English teacher at Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake High School, DiNicola started writing for the Gazette in 1975. His last column was published in January. He began his television career as an on-air personality at WRGB in 1978 and retired in 2006.

In addition to his life-long love of movies, DiNicola was also an avid jazz fan, who was married to jazz vocalist Susannah McCorkle from 1984-1998. He also managed her music career.
