Festival Fever: onedotzero adventures in motion @ EMPAC, 4/30-5/2

The onedotzero_adventures in motion festival is returning next weekend to EMPAC in Troy.

The showcase of cutting-edge digital and interactive moving-image design kicks off with a reception on Friday (which is also Troy Night Out) starting at 8pm, followed by a (sold out) performance by internationally known DJ Diplo, who will be accompanied with live visuals by local VJs Ray Cutler, Adam Grossman, Ryan Jenkins, David Lublin, Kevin Luddy, Blair Neal, Fernando Orellana, Misha Rabinovich and Jack Turner.

Back-to-back screenings of onedotzero’s latest compilations of short form videos run all weekend, as well as a screening of Diplo’s directorial feature debut “Favela on Blast” that explores the Baile Funk musical genre of Brazil.

Oooh, and there will be art: also slated is “It’s Already the End of the World,” an animated video installation by New York painter Brian Alfred featuring multiple soundtracks by musicians Flying Lotus, Ghislain Poirier, Roberto Carlos Lange, and others, as well as a premiere of a performance/installation by international visual label AntiVJ, renowned for their light projections on buildings and “live painting” with projections:

All installations, lounge and café areas are free and open to the public. A three-day festival pass (general admission) for the screenings is $10 and available at the EMPAC box office or through the EMPAC website.
