Festival Fever: Bike!Bike! Northeast, 4/24-25

Pedal on down to the Sanctuary for Independent Media in Troy this weekend to participate in Bike!Bike! Northeast, the all-bicycle related fest sponsored by Troy Bike Rescue.

All sorts of workshops, discussions and skill-sharing session will be taking place at the Sanctuary and the Troy Bike Rescue workshop throughout the day beginning at 10am on Saturday. Here are just a few of the sessions on the slate during the morning hours:

Community Bike Shop 101 (10am-12noon @ TBR workshop): Skillshare and best practices community bike shops

Welding for Dummies Like Us (10am-12noon @ TBR alley/garage): Learn the basics of arc welding steel bike parts. Build a tall bike or a custom trailer.

Advocacy for the Whole Family (10am-12noon @ Sanctuary Stage): Commuting as families and advocating for the rights of young people to use bicycles as transportation.

Urban Riding Skillshare (10am-12noon @ Sanctuary Cafe): Discussion on rules of engagement for city riding.

Workshops and discussion continue through the afternoon in addition to a bike rodeo, community lunch, obstacle course, potluck dinner and more.

Saturday’s festivities conclude with a screening of the film, “Veer,” at 7pm and a dance party featuring live music from Worcester’s Blister Pack and Nippertown faves Beware! The Other Head of Science at 9pm.
