MUSIC: Dan Hicks & the Hot Licks @ The Egg, Albany. He’s the walkin’ one and only hipster layin’ down some sweet ‘n’ surreal jazz-folk-swing sounds. And yes, the Lickettes will be here, too. Opening is the equally sublime acoustic bluesman John Hammond. 8pm. $28.

MUSIC: Dennis DeYoung @ the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall, Troy. “I am the modern man who hides behind a mask/So no one can see my true identity/Domo arigato, Mr. Roboto, Domo, Domo/Domo arigato, Mr. Roboto, Domo, Domo…” 8pm. $35, $42, $47, $55.

ART EVENT: Knock It Off @ Albany Center Gallery, Albany. Appropriation art? Copyright infringement? Or just a damn good time? Oh, it’s likely all of those things, as a whole bunch of Nippertown artists offer a one-night-only exhibition and sale (cheap!) of artwork inspired by other artwork. 6pm. Free.

COMEDY: Jeff Foxworthy, Larry the Cable Guy, Bill Engvall @ the Times Union Center, Albany. You might be a redneck if … you go to this show. 8pm. $29.75, $59.50.

MUSIC: Scientific Maps’ CD release party @ Valentine’s Music Hall, Albany. Scientific Maps celebrate the release of “Food for Witches” with some help from the all-star combo Man Scouts and comedian Bill Chambers. Bring a flashlight. 9pm.

MUSIC: JFK of MSTRKRFT, the Walkmen, the Postelles @ Skidmore College Sports & Rec Center, Saratoga Springs. Skidmore continues to lead the way as the Nippertown college with the coolest rock shows. 7pm. $20.

MUSIC: Skeeter Creek @ Broadway Joe’s, Albany. Kick up your heels with some happy-hour fun as country faves Skeeter Creek come to the city for a downtown outdoor block party prior to the redneck comedy show inside the TUC. 4pm. Free.

MUSIC/READING: Larry Kirwan @ the Van Dyck, Schenectady. Yes, Kirwan is a fine musician and bandleader of Black 47. He’s also a novelist and playwright. For his “rock & read” solo show tonight, he’ll be singing some songs, as well as reading selections from his new novel, “Rockin’ the Bronx.” 7pm. $17.

MUSIC: Christopher Shaw @ Boght Arts Center, Cohoes. The Adirondacks’ champion singer-songwriter-storyteller and all-around-good-guy. 7:30pm. $15.

MUSIC: Livingston Taylor @ Revolution Hall, Troy. After playing the Troy Savings Bank Music and Caffe Lena, James’ brother is back for his third Nippertown concert in five months. Does he have a sub-let here somewhere? Doors open at 7pm. $35.
