5/5/10: Today’s Tips: Wednesday
MUSIC: Alex Torres @ Jose Malone’s, Troy. When you’re Nippertown’s finest Mexican Irish eatery, you not only get to host a huge St. Patrick’s Day bash, but a gigantic Cinco de Mayo celebration, too. Jose Malone’s opens its doors at 12noon for the big party, but things really kick into high gear when Amsterdam’s salsa king Alex Torres gets things hopping at 7pm.
ART/PERFORMANCE: TSL Youth Media Arts Program @ Time & Space Limited, Hudson. A teen arts project under the direction of Ryder Cooley with Mori Helevi and Linda Mussmann, the TSL Youth Media Arts Program is offering an open studio presentation featuring large-scale drawings (10’x10′), video and live performance created during their semester-long workshop sessions. Followed by refreshments. 5:30-6:30pm. Free.
MUSIC/COMEDY: mc chris @ Valentine’s Music Hall, Albany. Direct from the Bamboozle Music Festival at the Meadowlands on Sunday, the helium-voiced, comic-hip-hopster mc chris (also known as MC Pee Pants from his days on “Aqua Teen Hunger Force”) unleashes his joke-rap flow on unsuspecting Albanians. Math the Band, Prima share the stage. 8pm. $13.
READING/OPEN MIC: Jared Smith @ Caffe Lena, Saratoga Springs. As the featured reader, veteran poet Smith will read from his latest collection of poetry, “The Graves Grow Bigger Between the Generations,” and other works. Also, poetry open mic session. 7pm. $3.
MUSIC: All for Revenge @ Savannah’s, Albany. Troy hardcore. Need I say more? With Assault on the Living, Nephalum. 8pm. Free.
