5/10/10: Today’s Tips: Monday
MUSIC: Deer Tick @ Valentine’s Music Hall, Albany. The last time through town, the acclaimed alt-country-rocking band rambled into Rev Hall back in November. This time around, it’s the more intimate Valentine’s, which should suit the fans – and the band – just. fine. Led by the multi-talented John McCauley, the Providence, Rhode Island-based band will be showcasing selections from their albums, 2007’s “War Elephant” and this year’s “Born On Flag Day.” And if we’re lucky, they’ll give a sneak preview of “The Black Dirt Sessions,” too, which is due out next month. With Sgt. Dunbar & the Hobo Banned and El Duke churning things up, too. 8pm.
Here’s a clip of Deer Tick from a Providence show last month. Looks like quite the party, eh?:
MUSIC: Ukulele Night @ the Moon & River Cafe, Schenectady. My. Dog. Has. Fleas. Yes, tune up the old four-string, and join Ron Gordon for a night of ukulele madness. Play along, or just sit and listen. Either way, it’ll bring a smile to your face. 7-9pm. Free.
MUSIC: Black Mountain Symphony @ Hotshots, Glens Falls. With the Ameros and William Hale. It’s Monday night! Let’s rock! 9pm.
