ArtBeat: Calls For Entry
The Arts Center of the Capital Region is accepting works in all media for its annual Fence Show, slated to run from June 25-July 12 (Salon exhibit of all entries) and from July 30 – September 3 (Select show of juried entries). Juror: Ian Berry, director and curator of the Tang Teaching Museum. Membership required. Drop off dates: Sunday, June 13 – Tuesday, June 15.
Limner gallery is accepting entries for “A Show Of Heads,” a thematic group exhibition to be held in November, 2010 open to interpretations and portrays of the human head. $2200 in publication awards. (Deadline August 31)

Berkshire Made is still accepting entries for Handmade in the Park, a crafts fair of locally made, hand-crafted items that will take place on Saturday, June 26 and Saturday, August 7 at the First Congregational Church Park in Lee. (Application deadline: May 15).
NPR is seeking Muybridge-inspired videos (stop-motion animation, sequence of stills or anything else you can come up with) to feature on their Picture Show blog and the Corcoran website. (Deadline: May 15)

Oncology on Canvas is seeking entires for Expression of a Cancer Journey, a bienniel competition and travelling exhibition developed by Lilly (the pharmaceutical giant) as a way to honor those who are impacted by cancer as a patient, caregiver, friend or family member. (Deadline: June 10)
The 11th Annual Woodstock Film Festival is now accepting entries for its 2010 season, taking place September 29 – October 3, 2010. (Deadlines: (early) May 21 and (final) June 21.)
frieze, a British magazine of contemporary art and culture, is inviting entries for the Frieze Writer’s Prize 2010, which aims to promote and encourage new arts writers from around the world. Writers are invited to submit an unpublished 700-word review of a recent contemporary art exhibition. The winner receives an award of £2000 and a commission to write a review for the October issue. (Deadline: June 25)
Proctors Theatre is seeking entries for the Northeast Fine Craft Festival to be held October 23-24, 2010. Last year’s festival brought an attendance of more than 1,000 participants — with 40 artisan booths featured throughout the facility. Craftspeople and artisans who create original work from their own designs in metal, fiber, clay, glass, paper, wood, and leather are invited to apply online or send an email request to [email protected]. The onedotzero_adventures_in_motion Festival that recently touched down at EMPAC is seeking entries for next year’s event, new work that demonstrates innovative creative expression and visionary moving image ideas in the categories of animation + short form, feature films, live audio-visual performances and installations. Hudson’s Limner Gallery is seeking entries for “Strange Figurations,” a thematic exhibition open to all media and figurative styles from the realist to the surreal and visionary. 72″ maximum dimension. Hot street art action: Papergirl-New York State is seeking artists to participate in this year’s PaperGirl, an art event that will combine the forces of New York City and Albany. Works will be shown from August 23-27 @ the Dumbo Art Center, Brooklyn, from August 28-29 @ the Armory in Manhattan and from September 3-6 @ the Marketplace Gallery in Albany. After the gallery exhibitions, the art will be distributed to strangers on the street in a style that imitates paperboys. (Submission deadline: July 20)
Saratoga Arts is accepting entries for Saratoga: Inside-Out, an exhibition that encourages artists to turn their views of Saratoga County “inside-out” by reinterpreting, subverting or envisioning anew the icons, ideas, events of landscapes. The show will run from August 7 through September 25. Drop off work (actual works, not slides or files) on Monday, July 25, 9am-5pm.
UAlbany’s University Art Museum is seeking works in all media by alumni of all graduate and undergraduate programs for an exhibition this fall. (Deadline: October 1).

Greene County Council on the Arts has announced their 2010 Calls For Entries. There are no entry fees but membership in the GCCA is required to participate in any show.
- 2000-2010 Define the Decade: a juried group exhibition inviting creative responses to a tumultous decade. Exhibit dates: June 19-August 14, 2010. (Application deadline: May 1)
- Wish You Were Here: A juried landscape exhibition based on experiences in the Catskill Park. Exhibit dates: October 16-Nov. 13, 2010. (Application deadline: September 1)
- Salon 2010: The Push Pin Show. The GCCA’s annual unjuried holiday exhibition and sale, open to all members. Exhibit dates: November 20, 2010-January 15, 2011. (Application deadline: November 1, 2010)
- Addiitonally, GCCA is accepting applications for review for solo and curated group shows. (Deadlines: May 1 and December 1.)
