5/17/10: Today’s Tips: Monday

MUSIC/BENEFIT: Ramblin Jug Stompers’ “Tess’ Lark Tavern in Exile” @ Capital Repertory Theatre, Albany. The Jug Stompers have played at Tess’ Lark Tavern on the third Monday of each month for four and a half years, but the devastating fire on May 6 left so many without a home. The fabulous folks at Capital Rep offered their cafe as a temporary home for RJS til the tavern re-opens. So come on down for a drink, some funky acoustic music and a laugh or two. They say that laughter is the best medicine, so let the healing begin… 7pm. Free; donations for Tess’ Lark Tavern gratefully accepted.

MUSIC: Fairview Avenue @ Moon & River Cafe, Schenectady. Classic bluegrass with a contemporary spin. 8pm. Free.

THEATER ON FILM: “The Habit of Art” @ the Spectrum 8 Theaters, Albany. The latest in the theater-on-film series from London’s National Theatre concerns a fictional meeting meeting between poet W.H. Auden and composer Benjamin Britten. Written by Tony Award winner Alan Bennett (“The History Boys”) and directed by Nicholas Hytner. Presented in HD and Dolby Digital. 7pm. $15; children 12 and under $12.
