The Line-Up for Wilco’s Solid Sound Festival @ MASS MoCA, 8/13-15/10

The line-up of performers slated for the Solid Sound Festival at MASS MoCA is shaping up very nicely indeed. The fest – which is slated to take over the sprawling North Adams museum of contemporary art from Friday-Sunday, August 13-15 – is being curated by the members of Wilco.

Wilco, of course, is scheduled to perform at the fest, as are numerous other spin-off projects from the members of the band – including Glenn Kotcheʼs On Fillmore, the Nels Cline Singers, the Autumn Defense (featuring John Stirratt and Pat Sansone) and Mikael Jorgensenʼs Pronto.

The multimedia fest promised more than just music, and they’re definitely delivering on their promise.

A comedy stage will feature stand-up performances by Hannibal Buress, John Mulaney, Kristen Schaal and Todd Barry.

Vermont’s fabulous Bread and Puppet Theater company have also been tapped to perform at the fest.

And the music end of things is shaping up, too. Some of the new additions to the festival include Avi Buffalo, Vetiver, Sir Richard Bishop, Mountain Man, Brenda, the Books and Deep Blue Organ Trio.

And at the top of the list – veteran soul diva Mavis Staples will also be one of the fest’s featured performers – no big surprise considering that Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy just completed his producing chores for Staples’ upcoming new album.

There’s still time to purchase tix for the Solid Sound Festival at the early-bird discount price, too. Tix are just $86.50 through Monday. On Tuesday, June 1, ticket prices will rise to $99.50.
