Be Here Now: Sandy McKnight’s CD Release Party @ American Glory, 6/27/10
Veteran power-popster Sandy McKnight is celebrating the release of his new album, “How I Changed the World” with a party at American Glory in Hudson at 1pm on Sunday. Admission is free.
But this isn’t just another CD; it’s a real whopper.
It is, in fact, a 66-song, three-CD box set that spans 30 years of McKnight’s music making.
“Most are performed by me,” explains songwriter, musician and producer McKnight, “although there are a number performed by artists who have covered my songs.” The guest artists include everyone from Liv Cummins to Jonathan Edwards.
And in addition to his solo work, McKnight’s own recordings include tracks from the Truants (his mid-’80s power-pop band) to the recent Ragamuffins of Love (a virtual cartoon band with McKnight in the role of lead singer Eff Dupp).
“The whole package comes in a 12-inch LP jacket, so it looks like a vinyl record,” McKnight explains. “But inside are four CDs – three with music and one with 60 pages of liner notes, pictures and info on each track.”
Sounds like a mighty ambitious retrospective project and a pretty good deal, too. McKnight is selling the set for $30. Pick one up at the CD release party or online.
