Wanna Be Bon Jovi’s Opening Act?
Well, you can.
In fact, one lucky band will actually have that golden opportunity when Bon Jovi lands at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center in Saratoga Springs on Sunday, July 11.
What do you need to do?
Well, first, log onto the websites for PYX 106 or 99.5 The River and fill out the online registration form.
The key factor here is that you must include a link to a YouTube video of an original song by your band.
The deadline to enter is 12noon on Friday.
Beginning on Saturday all of the eligible band videos will be posted online, and the general public will vote for the winner. Deadline for voting is 3pm Tuesday, July 6. The winner will be the band with the most votes from both radio stations combined.
Question for aspiring applicants: do we have to stay and listen to Bon Jovi?

Is Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes opening for Bon Jovi @ Saratoga on July 11th?

Yeah, I read that in Metroland, too, but I don’t know where they got that info. I don’t think it’s gonna happen. According to Southside Johnny’s website, the band is slated to open for Bon Jovi on Monday night at the Blossom Music Center near Cleveland, but that’s the ONLY Bon Jovi date on their tour schedule. (Also, Southside Johnny’s schedule has them playing at a festival in the Netherlands today (Sat.).
So as far as we know here in Nippertown, local Albany band Ten Year Vamp is doing the opening act honors at Saratoga at 8pm.
