READING: Caryl Phillips and Campbell McGrath @ Davis Auditorium in Palamountain Hall, Skidmore College, North Broadway, Saratoga Springs. The NYS Summer Writers Institute continues with a fiction and poetry reading by Phillips (“A Distant Shore,” “The Nature of Blood”) and McGrath (“American Noise”). 8pm. Free.
MUSIC: The Lee Boys @ the Bearsville Theater, Woodstock. The three brothers – Alvin, Derrick and Keith Lee – lead one of America’s finest sacred steel bands as they filter pedal steel guitar through gospel music with a hard-driving blues backbeat. 8pm. $15.
