Festival Fever: Rest Fest @ St. Joseph’s Church, 8/28-29/10

RestFestJust last month, the art ‘n’ music festival Heavy took over St. Joseph’s Church in Albany with a wild ‘n’ woolly happening to raise funds for the restoration of the historic church. (See our review.)

Now this weekend, another music festival spearheaded by the fine folks at B3nson Records – in conjunction with the Historic Albany Foundation – is headed into the church to help raise more funds.

The Restoration Funstival – otherwise known as Rest Fest – will take place from 12noon-11pm on Saturday and Sunday, featuring 16 of the top local bands from all corners of Nippertown.

Tickets will be $15 per day at the door; $20 for a weekend pass. (There may still be some discount $15 weekend passes available at Last Vestige Music Shop in Albany and the River Street Beat Shop in Troy.) Twenty-five percent of all proceeds will go directly to the St. Joseph’s Restoration Fund to support their $300,000 matched grant from the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation, and Historic Preservation.

In conjunction with the weekend-long bash, B3nson Records has also put together a compilation of tunes by the Rest Fest performers, and the “Restoration Compilation” is currently available for free download.

$15 weekend passes can also still be purchased from any of the band members! Among a multitude of other ways to contact any of them, you can find email addresses and facebook pages and the like on the band page of b3nson.net, any of us would be happy to get these cheaper tickets to you!

Also, the list of bands is roughly the schedule, starting earliest in the day and scrolling down to the closers… so if you want to catch Que Caro and/or Matthew Carefully (as you most certainly should!) make sure you are there at noon! There will also be a juried art exhibit scattered about the entirety of this very unique and wonderful space.
